Premium SMS Statistics

According to a new report issued by market research firm Telephia, off-portal premium SMS transactions generated close to $215 million in download purchases and $35 million in voting/sweepstakes revenues in the first quarter of 2007. In all, premium SMS revenues totaled more than $273 million, Telephia said, accounting for 32 percent of U.S. mobile content revenue in Q1 2007.

This is good news for Movaya and all of our our partners as this projects 2007 to be worth at least $1B in off-deck sales.

Frankly these numbers are not reliable. If you check Telephia's methodology in the full report you will burst out laughing. Numbers published from an industry consortium which includes Mobile365 -- http://www.mobile365.com/ -- and Mblox -- http://www.mblox.com/ -- and GoLive! Mobile -- http://www.golivemobile.com -- amongst many others has shown that the numbers are significantly larger in the U.S for Premium SMS billing. You can find this report on MMA's website I believe but I'm not sure of the name unfortunately!
