Very cool new product - Rocketshotz

As the Mobile Phone Blog audience continues to grow we get more and more requests from companies to write about their cool cellphone applications. Certainly we wish we had more time to devote to the blog in general and time for testing out new applications gets harder and harder to find.

Occasionally, however, I see something that catches my eye, and over the weekend I got a note from a small technology firm based in Atlanta, Clickit, that has put together a clever new toolset called Rocketshotz for mobile phone Internet browsing.

So what is RocketShotz?

Well, as their website states, it's a simple way to make browsing the Internet on your mobile device a lot easier. It's similar to how you would use myyahoo! on your PC to manage all of your favorite content.

Getting started is easy and free - you create a basic account with username and password and device profile and then once you've created an account, you can customize your Rocketshotz mobile homepage.

Step 1: Choose a Rocketshotz area to customize.

There are 9 default icons on the home page that represent the different categories and 5 of the 9 are configurable (Favorites, News, Travel, Weather and Finance)

Step 2: Browse mobile websites

After you choose the area that you would like to customize, you can view all of the mobile sites available in their database and then pick which ones you want to show up in each Rocketshotz area. If you only have one site in a specific area, when you click on it, it goes straight to the site. If you have multiple sites selected (max of 20), they are listed. The order of sites listing is configurable as well.

Step 3: Save Changes. Changes are saved automatically - I was testing this real-time on my device and it works flawlessly.

Step 4: Send Rocketshotz to your phone. Enter your cellphone number and Rocketshotz sends an SMS with the link to your phone.

The four Rocketshotz areas that are not configurable are: Featured Site (currently Digg), settings for Screen Style Setup, something called "QuickShotz", and something called "Monkeyshines" which is pre-populated with 5 sites.

Why do I like this tool so much? Well, I have been having a problem with my current phone, a Samsung ZX10 on AT&T. The problem is that for some ridiculous reason, I am capped at 24 "favorites" in my web browser on my phone. As more and more sites pop-up, I have to delete current bookmarks to add new ones. It drives me crazy. With Rocketshotz, I immediately expand the number of bookmarks from 24 to 100. Furthermore, it is a great way to find and preview mobile sites on the PC before you are mobile.
