Capcom Announces Resident Evil: Degeneration

Capcom Mobile announced the upcoming release of its next Resident Evil title, a mobile game adaptation of the soon-to-be-released CG-animated movie Resident Evil: Degeneration.

The game places players in the role of Leon Kennedy (previous star of Resident Evil 2 and RE4), who finds himself trapped in an airport filled with zombies, mutated dogs, and other undead creatures. Players can expect to find multiple weapons throughout the game's 50-mission campaign.

Capcom notes that Degeneration is exclusive to mobile platforms, with no ports apparently planned for consoles or portables. "Mobile is the only place where fans can play Resident Evil: Degeneration and experience this thrilling story from a unique adrenaline-fueled perspective," says Midori Yuasa, president, Capcom Interactive, Inc.

No specific release date has yet been set for the mobile version of Degeneration, though Capcom promises that the title will debut in North America and the UK "by the end of the year." Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the Resident Evil: Degeneration movie on DVD and Blu-ray formats on December 27, 2008.
