LimeLife Releases Law & Order: Celebrity Betrayal

LimeLife, Inc. and NBC Universal today announced the launch of “Law & Order: Celebrity Betrayal,” the mobile game extension for NBC’s long-running crime drama, Law & Order, now in its 18th season. Executive Producer Dick Wolf and his team were instrumental in developing the game with LimeLife to reflect the signature storytelling and energy of Law & Order.

“One of the contributors to the shows longevity has been its commitment to evolve with the times and stay fresh which includes allowing our audience to experience ‘Law & Order’ in different ways and on different screens,” said Dick Wolf, creator and executive producer of “Law & Order.” “‘Law & Order: Celebrity Betrayal’ is the closest fans of the show can come to experiencing a day in the life of their favorite ‘Law & Order’ characters.”

Players work to solve New York City’s latest celebrity crime by investigating the crime scene, interrogating witnesses and bringing their key suspect to trial. The object of the game is to build as strong a case as possible and win a conviction with contextual advice and feedback from popular Law & Order cast members like Sam Waterston and Alana De La Garza. Players exhibit the evidence they have collected throughout every stage of the story during the game’s complete trial experience, and try to win a conviction to become the rookie Law & Order star.

Law & Order: Celebrity Betrayal also features four mini-games that directly affect the strength of a player’s case. At the game’s precinct location, players can help process evidence and obtain warrants by playing the Warrant Race game, and search for rumors playing the Coffee Run game. While in court, players can try their luck at Case Overload or Takeout Dash.

Law & Order: Celebrity Betrayal will be available for a one-time download charge of $6.99 or $2.99 monthly subscription fee on most major U.S. carriers.

“NBC excels at creating seamless digital experiences for all of its brands,” said Kristin McDonnell, CEO of LimeLife, Inc. “We are pleased to support NBC’s cross-media integration strategy, delivering the ‘Law & Order’ brand experience to show fans and crime buffs alike on their mobile phones.”

Grey's Anatomy Mobile Game

Fans of Grey's Anatomy who like to play games will be excited to hear that Gameloft, a top publisher of mobile games, is bringing Grey’s Anatomy: The Mobile Game to casual gamers and fans alike.

I tried to buy the game today by texting “GREY” to shortcode 82174, but unfortunately it's not available for my Samsung ZX-10. (Note: I know my phone is old. I am anxiously awaiting a new device that is supposed to show up next week.)

So, I haven't played it yet, but Gameloft's release has this to say:

Featuring rendered environments that faithfully replicate the set of the show, Grey’s Anatomy: The Mobile Game will allow players to live through the series’ most intense moments and see them through the eyes of the characters. Play as Meredith and meet Izzie, George, Cristina or Alex and experience their storylines in an adventure especially created for you to enjoy in the palm of your hand.

This is not the first "TV game" published by Gameloft. They've also developed mobile games for TV shows, Heroes and CSI Miami. Other mobile game publishers have followed their lead, including Limelife with Top Chef Challenge and RealArcade with The Apprentice.

I haven't seen any reviews of Grey's Anatomy: The Mobile Game, but Gameloft's products are usually well done, so if you're a fan of the show, check it out.

LimeLife Releases Top Chef Challenge

Mobile content publisher LimeLife announced the launch of Top Chef Challenge, a new mobile game inspired by cable network Bravo's reality series Top Chef. Set behind-the-scenes of a fictional new restaurant, Top Chef Challenge enables players to customize their own characters--beginning as an entry-level dishwasher, they advance to chef status via a series of mini-games and kitchen drama test reflexes. Bravo will debut the mobile game tonight (9/8c), in conjunction with its Top Chef Holiday Special broadcast.

This is the first we've heard from Limelife in awhile - they bill themselves as the only company which specializes in publishing mobile content for women. They have put out some decent titles in the past including Girls Night Out Blackjack, but they haven't made much noise in the mobile gaming space recently. More pointedly, we are anxious for them to commit to the off-deck marketplace. There certainly is an audience wating for their games in places they may not have considered (womengamers.com and grrlgamer.com come to mind).

We (Movaya) will try to find some time to play Top Chef Challenge, which certainly is targeting a solid genre of mobile gaming. Game play is similar to Diner Dash and CakeMania, both of which have done well in mobile, and I imagine this was very intentional. Stay tuned, if the game blows us away we will report back. Hopefully I won't get fired for publishing an average review if it is called for :)
